Emergency Fund for Zimbabwe
Despite losing the first round of elections, and being uncontested in the second round due the excessive violence being meted against his own people, Robert Mugabe continues to resist international pressure to legitimise his government.
As the situation worsens, even more Zimbabweans at home and in exile will need our help. To meet this demand, PoC has set up an Emergency Fund for Zimbabwe.
Your donation will provide medical treatment, money to buy daily necessities for those left without a breadwinner, the means to escape for those who must, and sustenance to those who already have.
An 85 year old man, attacked because he had voted for the opposition MDC, had two broken arms, his houses set on fire and his cattle axed to death and then burned. He shook his head and said, "I have nothing left in my life but my wife, I don't even have a blanket".
A young man, brutally beaten on the buttocks by Zanu PF Militia for supporting the MDC was given a light dressing and Panadol - all that the hospital had. An ambulance crew sent to help him were told to turn back if they valued their lives. We cannot show you the image of his septic wounds, as it is too shocking.
