The results of our supporter survey are in. You confirmed what we thought we knew already: that our supporters are generous, knowledgeable and committed to supporting human rights and those who protect them.

The main reason why people support us is because you think human rights are a cornerstone of humanity that should be respected; and because human rights defenders are courageous people who should be protected and supported.

When it comes to the quality of our work, you gave us a 4 out of 5 Star rating and agreed that we make a positive contribution to the world. However, you also indicated that you felt there was more we could do, both in terms of helping prisoners of conscience and raising the profile of our work. More than one of you commented on how you want us to grow and make sure that more people know about our work.

You are also very generous with your time and money. In addition to the donations you make to us, you are very active with other organisations too. Just over half (53%) give to other human rights charities, while 47% write letters to governments and others. Some 27% and 21% respectively volunteer their skills and go on protest marches.

We are listening to your feedback. The findings from this survey reflect what we think internally, and we are taking important steps towards growing our reach and impact. It is great to know that you will be there to support us on this journey. Watch this space for more news and developments soon.

To everyone who contributed to the survey – thank you. Your time, energy and insight are much appreciated and has made a very useful contribution to our work.

And the winner is….
You may have been wondering which lucky person won the French holiday, which was offered as a prize for people filling out the survey. That person was Michael Ferrie who will now be able to enjoy a short break at La Petite Maison, a two-hundred year old cottage in the midst of beautiful Dordogne countryside.
